A New Chapter: Hanging Up the L-Plates
To all my past, present, and future drivers,
After 13 and a half wonderful years as a driving instructor, the time has come for me to officially retire at the end of August due to health issues.
Looking back over the years, it has been an absolute privilege to help so many of you take to the road. We’ve shared it all—the nerve-wracking first lessons, the triumphs, the occasional setbacks, and plenty of tears, laughter, and celebratory hugs along the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of learners.
I’m Still Here to Help!
While I am stepping back from full-time instruction, my passion for coaching hasn´t gone anywhere. If you have your own car and are looking for a bit of guidance, I am still available on a more informal basis to offer:

Phil is an amazing driving instructor who I had the pleasure of taking my lessons with. He creates a stress free environment and is very knowledgeable about driving. I passed first time and felt very confident going into it because of being prepared very well. I will miss his dad jokes every lesson and having a good laugh! I highly recommend Phil’s driving school having taught our daughter Anna 5 years ago and daughter Laura this year. We realised how Phil teaches for safe confident driving for life not just for the test . Frequently over the last few years we’ve heard Phil’s name mentioned by Anna and Laura about how he’d approach road conditions. As a cyclist himself , he especially helps promote awareness of other road users and safety .
We had to book a year in advance and wait for Phil to subsequently teach Laura this year but knew the wait was worth it . Driving lessons are informative but also enjoyable for learners with a few jokes thrown in from Phil !

I couldn’t have asked for a better driving instructor than Phil . I really struggle with my anxiety and was terrified to start lessons but those nerves went away instantly and my confidence grew with every lesson . Phil really understands how to describe things specifically for the individual and caters his lessons for what they need . For example I’m a picture person so learnt so much easier being shown pictures and when the white board pen came out . The perfect balance between a driving lesson and a weekly catch up. Thank you for everything even the non stop dad jokes 🤭, you will be missed on a Wednesday x
