A New Chapter: Hanging Up the L-Plates
To all my past, present, and future drivers,

After 13 and a half wonderful years as a driving instructor, the time has come for me to officially retire at the end of August due to health issues.

Looking back over the years, it has been an absolute privilege to help so many of you take to the road. We’ve shared it all—the nerve-wracking first lessons, the triumphs, the occasional setbacks, and plenty of tears, laughter, and celebratory hugs along the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of learners.

I’m Still Here to Help!
While I am stepping back from full-time instruction, my passion for coaching hasn´t gone anywhere. If you have your own car and are looking for a bit of guidance, I am still available on a more informal basis to offer:

I cannot thank Phil enough for the patience and amount of positivity he has shown throughout my lessons and how far he is willing to go to go out of his way to deal with my nerves, mistakes and ways to improve. I always felt that Phil was always there for me to help through difficult situations at college etc and is easily one of the happiest and funniest people I have ever come across.
Phil gives briefings after every lesson, telling the positives and negatives of each lesson and this helped me a lot by helping me in the next lesson to improve and this boosted my confidence massively. He met me and my family before my lessons began which put me at ease as I thought I was going to be stuck in the car with a stranger in silence! But he is far from that and quickly became a mega driving mentor and friend that has given me my independence.
Leading up to test, me and Phil decided that I would take my test and the next few lessons in my car and found that this would be the best decision. Phil was very understanding with this decision and quickly fell in love with my car😂
I will miss my weekly lessons with you and cannot thank you enough for what you have taught me and will be coming back to you for some motorway lessons in the next month or so. Thank you!❤️

Massive congratulations go to Anna, who passed her driving test today in Buxton at the first attempt and with only 1 driver fault. She joins the exclusive club of passing both theory and driving tests first time. A great drive, well done. Thank you Phil!

Phil has been the best driving instructor I could have asked for! I imagined that all driving instructors would be scary-looking individuals who you’d be worried to make any mistakes in front of. But not Phil! He made me feel very comfortable in each and every lesson; from day one!

He was always prepared with lesson briefings and plans explaining what I did well, what I needed to work on and a reminder as to what we did the lesson prior. This helped me understand what I had accomplished so far as a driver.

He also took the time to help me with theory lessons over cake and coffee; which only goes to show how down-to-earth he really is!

He got to know me as a person, as well as a learner driver. Knowing when I was having an ‘off-day’, he had no trouble in putting a smile on my face and getting me ready for the lessons ahead.

Getting closer to the test itself, we did test routes and Phil helped me out; immensely, when it came to the ‘show me, tell me’ questions, that you could be asked on the day of the test.

Overall, he’s a brilliant driving instructor and I couldn’t have asked for more! Thank you again Phil for making me a safe driver; couldn’t have done it without you!
