A New Chapter: Hanging Up the L-Plates
To all my past, present, and future drivers,
After 13 and a half wonderful years as a driving instructor, the time has come for me to officially retire at the end of August due to health issues.
Looking back over the years, it has been an absolute privilege to help so many of you take to the road. We’ve shared it all—the nerve-wracking first lessons, the triumphs, the occasional setbacks, and plenty of tears, laughter, and celebratory hugs along the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of learners.

While I am stepping back from full-time instruction, my passion for coaching hasn´t gone anywhere. If you have your own car and are looking for a bit of guidance, I am still available on a more informal basis to offer:

Massive well done and congratulations go to Josh, who passed his driving test today in Buxton and with only 6 driver faults.
It´s been a bit of a journey as He has had numerous tests cancelled because of the covid pandemic and also being away at university has had a bit of a delay, but he´s done it.

Phil is an AMAZING instructor, I passed both my theory and practical first time! From the get go he makes sure you feel comfortable and will tailor each lesson to you. After each lesson you always receive an email briefing with everything you’ve covered, what you did well on, what you need to work on and what you’re going to cover next lesson which helps you prepare instead of going into the “unknown”.
When I first started driving with Phil I had zero confidence in myself as a person and a driver. But Phil always reassured me and always believed in me, so thank you Phil.
Phil doesn’t only teach you how to drive/pass your test, he teaches you how to be a safe driver and puts you at ease which helped me feel calm and confident within myself. Anyone who’s looking to learn how to drive I highly recommend Phil, he’s taught me everything I know and made sure I was ready for my test. (Just ignore the bad jokes)
It’s been an absolute pleasure learning to drive with you and I’m going to miss our lessons on a Wednesday!

When I started driving with Phil, I had no confidence in myself at all , I couldn’t even imagine having to take my driving test, without his support I wouldn’t have passed my test first time. Phil has been a star , he gave me the confidence I needed , was very friendly and stays really calm on lessons which helps for anyone who gets nervous.
After each lesson Phil will email you a lesson debrief , that goes over everything you did well and things to improve on , he always emails you handouts for different driving situations which really helps if you struggle to get to grips with anything.
For anyone starting to learn to drive I would highly recommend Phil , especially if you get quite nervous. He doesn´t just teach you how to pass your test but also how to drive , I’ve learnt so much from Phil and have every bit of confidence to now go out and drive on my own. Without a doubt the best instructor , Thank You Phil your a star ! X
