A New Chapter: Hanging Up the L-Plates
To all my past, present, and future drivers,
After 13 and a half wonderful years as a driving instructor, the time has come for me to officially retire at the end of August due to health issues.
Looking back over the years, it has been an absolute privilege to help so many of you take to the road. We’ve shared it all—the nerve-wracking first lessons, the triumphs, the occasional setbacks, and plenty of tears, laughter, and celebratory hugs along the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of learners.
I’m Still Here to Help!
While I am stepping back from full-time instruction, my passion for coaching hasn´t gone anywhere. If you have your own car and are looking for a bit of guidance, I am still available on a more informal basis to offer:

Highly recommend Phil as a driving instructor. He’s extremely calm and patient and doesn’t hesitate to crack a joke which is great for any nervous drivers. Always made me feel comfortable at the wheel and was really patient if I made a mistake. I loved how he’d take his time explaining any manoeuvres and practice them until they were perfect, this was great for my confidence and allowed me to not get nervous or panic when it came up on test. Extremely informative on every lesson. I learned so much from Phil that I’ll never forget. Amazing instructor! Xx

This pass is dedicated to Paul Stubbs, one of our local instructors who sadly passed away from covid in January.
Holly was learning with Paul and got in touch after his passing, and we managed to sort out some driving lessons to keep her ticking over till test.

"So I first met Phil because my friend recommended him to me as I was looking for a new instructor and he basically turned into my life mentor as-well as my driving instructor. I’d been learning with him for a really long time due to covid and everything and I’m so glad I had the support he gave me. He adapted his teaching to how I learn and it made me realise if you have the right teacher, you will do your best. It’s been a very long journey but I wouldn’t change it at all and he has helped me gain my freedom! I will never forget the bad jokes, random emergency stop words, accidentally breaking his mirror and naming my car “corona the corsa”. All the different learning techniques and practice really helped me gain the confidence I needed and I’m so grateful for everything! Thank you Phil! can’t wait for the catch-ups in the future not quite getting rid of me yet 😂
