A New Chapter: Hanging Up the L-Plates
To all my past, present, and future drivers,
After 13 and a half wonderful years as a driving instructor, the time has come for me to officially retire at the end of August due to health issues.
Looking back over the years, it has been an absolute privilege to help so many of you take to the road. We’ve shared it all—the nerve-wracking first lessons, the triumphs, the occasional setbacks, and plenty of tears, laughter, and celebratory hugs along the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of learners.
I’m Still Here to Help!
While I am stepping back from full-time instruction, my passion for coaching hasn´t gone anywhere. If you have your own car and are looking for a bit of guidance, I am still available on a more informal basis to offer:

Passed first time
5 Star Phil! Phil has just seen my son Jamie through to gaining his licence. I cannot praise Phil enough and would recommend him to everyone without hesitation! As a parent I received emails every lesson, how things had gone, good and...well not so good. Even though I´ve not been in the car with Phil I know the word bad would not be used as he is so full of encouragement and positivity, his coaching skills with Jamie have been excellent to improve his driving after every lesson. Phil sent Jamie texts to remind him if he hadn´t done any theory practice as Phil could watch when he logged on to revise, all again through encouragement. Phil´s superb coaching and a true sense of what the individual needs of the candidate led to Jamie passing his Theory and Practical tests first time. I even pushed Jamie to take extra lessons the week before his test, Phil could have taken the money, however he said "No you don´t need them!" So honest Phil as well! I cannot praise Phil enough...he is an outstanding example of a driving instructor! So well done Jamie, and very very well done Phil

I chose Phil as my driving instructor because my sister (who passed first time with him) absolutely raved about him as a teacher and as a lovely, kind person. After passing my test with only 2 minor faults I can say that she was completely right! I started off a very nervous driver, but Phil always put me at ease and through his reassurance and confidence in me as a driver, I became confident in myself. Phil made driving lessons fun with his horrendous jokes and was never strict, as I know some instructors can be. He even turned mistakes into positives by helping me to learn from them, rather than worry about them. A friend suggested Pass with Phil to me when I was struggling with another instructor. Driving wasn´t something I enjoyed and I would often return from a lesson unhappy and dreading the next one. With Phil however, the opposite is true; from the start he encouraged me, reassured me, and made me laugh to the point I actually looked forward to lessons.
Phil is very patient and explained any mistakes so that I understood why they happened and then how to correct them. His positive disposition stopped me dwelling on those mistakes so I could carry on and ultimately pass.
Phil sends out handouts summarising each lesson which are useful as they allow you to see where improvements can be made and reflect on them in preparation for the next lesson and the test.
